ARE YOU POSTING FOR POPULARITY?

Whipster,

There are days (we all have them!) when putting your thoughts and ideas out on the internet can feel like you’re shouting at the top of your voice straight into a deep, deep, empty well.

 (Hello-o-o-o-o-o-o-!)

Quiet becomes lonely. Lonely becomes alone. Alone becomes unwanted. And from there, it’s only a short skip over to that dreaded place: Nobody-Likes-Me Land. (Terrible place. Really. No fun at all.)

Trust me: No one likes admitting it. But it happens to us all. (Super guilty here.)

The kneejerk response is often to just post some more, until we prompt some kind of positive feedback.

I want you to stop visiting the land of Nobody-Likes-Me. (Have I mentioned it’s a terrible place? Seriously, it sucks. So uncool. And the food and the stilettos – well, don’t even get me started.)

Instead, I want you to hang on to your perspective. Ask yourself: Am I posting because I want to be of service or to just have fun, or am I posting for popularity?

You don’t have to share the answer with anyone – but you do have to be honest with yourself. It’s easy to get hooked on the delicious-sexy instant gratification of social media.

But living your red carpet dream requires you to keep your head on straight and your eyes on the prize.

You’re bigger, stronger, more powerful than that small voice telling you that you’re not popular enough. You ARE going places. You’re turning your dreams into reality, and you’re looking so hot doing it!

So tell that annoying voice to eff off! If you’re not posting to be of service or just to have fun, STOP.

Give yourself a little time to regroup, refocus and get a good solid grip. Come back when you’re ready.

We’ll be here, waiting with bated breath for your brilliant ideas. I promise.

Kisses + Whippings,

Signature_2

PS I’ll be sending out the invites for March’s Hustle Your Business class soon! The lovely + talented Rebecca Pollock is whipping up a gorgeous logo and I want your invitation to be pretty!
